BI 2012: Still a steep climb ahead?16th December 2011 | Category: BI

Mobile BI, BI in the cloud, in-memory, big data, BI governance, etc. – catchwords dominate the scene and indicate: Things are happening here! At the end of 2011, business intelligence stands as solid as a rock in the midst of an economically uncertain environment. Some even speak of BI as the most influential technology of the future, others clearly recognize the benefits and conclude that the market is growing. But let’s concentrate on BI in everyday life. The following topics are on the BI agenda for 2012:
- User benefits
Mobile BI: Strong growth in demand and willingness to invest! But caution: The pitfalls of mobile BI solutions don’t lie in the ”classical“ problem areas of business intelligence! Better readability and interpretability of BI: In other words: It is amazing to see to what kind of report layouts, report comments, graphics, scaling, etc BI users are confronted with! Improvements in the area of report notation not only create added value. They also make BI even more visible for the management. - Cost optimization
Cost reduction potentials in the BI architecture and technology environments are extensively popular and have now been more or less developed. However, the cost reduction potential in the areas of BI process and organizational structure, e.g through adequate involvement from the side of individual departments, is often underdeveloped. There is an additional advantage, which works in two ways: By adding value through quality and efficiency improvements on the one hand and by reducing costs of infrastructure, project and operation on the other. - Data Governance
That the management of complex and rapidly growing data stands on everyone’s BI agenda is already almost a commodity, and with good reason too: Now is the window of opportunity for defining structures and creating frameworks to manage the data flood more efficiently in the future. Data governance is the main focus of BI process issues in 2012. - Resources
In 2012 particularly, one topic is on the agenda of the BI manager: How do I gain and keep good employees? In 2012 the struggle for resources will intensify. This requires creative solutions and innovative thinking in terms of current solutions.
In short, 2012 will be a very interesting year for the BI environment, which will call for comprehensive BI competence and vision and require high commitment. Our team of leading BI professionals will assist you with advice and practical help. We look forward to meeting you.

We wish you and your family a merry and peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year. After a successful business year in 2011, we have decided this year, through the Ayudamexico foundation, that instead of corporate gifts, we will sponsor eye operations for ten blind street children in Mexico – by which their sight will be restored. http://www.ayudamexico.com/
